BUILDING START ON NEW SCHOOL, KINDER FOR KOROROIT FAMILIES
The Allan Labor Government is giving more children the best start in life, with building work on a brand-new school and kindergarten in Melbourne’s west now underway – providing more local families access to a high-quality education program close to home.
Member for Kororoit Luba Grigorovitch yesterday visited St Marianne Cope Primary School in Mount Atkinson to turn the first sod and officially commence building works on the new Children’s Centre and Primary School development.
The Children’s Centre will include 178 kinder places for local families and feature consulting rooms and out of school hours care and is forecast to finish construction at the end of this year.
It will receive up to $6.75 million as part of the Building Blocks Partnership between the Labor Government and the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Early Years Education.
Positioning kindergartens on or close to schools supports children to get the most out of their early learning, makes drop-off more convenient for busy parents and carers, and helps with a smoother transition to primary school.
The Labor Government also provided $6 million to St Marianne Cope Primary School to build the first stage of a new primary school.
The new school will include general learning and administration areas.
The Labor Government is investing record funding in Victorian schools to make sure every child gets a great education – and schools can cater to the state’s growing population.
We’re investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state, supporting the delivery of 15 hours of Three-Year-Old Kindergarten each week by 2029 and up to 30 hours of Pre-Prep each week by 2036.
Through our nation-leading $14 billion Best Start, Best Life reforms, the Labor Government is transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money, and support parents and carers to return to work or study if they choose.
